I want to make you aware that the San Jacinto Watershed Community Meeting that was originally scheduled for June 14th has finally been rescheduled. The meeting will now be taking place on July 10 at the Kingwood Community Center. You can find more information below. Be sure you check out the Harris County Flood Control District’s website to find the the proposed project list, information about community engagement meetings and an online comment form. Visit www.hcfcd.org/bondprogram for more.

The House Committee on Public Education has scheduled two hearings in the coming weeks to discuss school safety. (These new postings have been reflected on my June 2018 calendar below.) Speaker Joe Straus issued three new interim charges to the committee, including one joint charge with the House Committee on Public Health. You can read those charges here.

This weekend, we are expecting periods of heavy rainfall. According to the National Weather Service, this will not be a Harvey-like event. Parts of the Houston-Galveston area can expect 2-5 inches of rain. You can read more about the expected rainfall below.

I hope that you and your family have a great weekend.

Sincerely,
