On Tuesday, the Commission on Public School Finance met to hear my presentation of Recommendations from the Expenditures Working Group, which I chaired. We had great discussion about the included items and I look forward to hearing from the Revenues Working Group soon.

FEMA announced they are providing Humble ISD with more than $5.8 million in federal grants, in response to Hurricane Harvey and the actions of the district. These much-needed dollars will greatly assist HISD in addressing the many funding issues left behind after the flood.

Next Wednesday, October 3rd, at 1:18 PM CDT, FEMA, in coordination with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), will conduct a nationwide test of the Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA) and Emergency Alert System (EAS) . The WEA portion of the test commences at 1:18 p.m. CDT, and the EAS portion follows at 1:20 p.m. CDT. The test will assess the operational readiness of the infrastructure for distribution of a national message and determine whether improvements are needed.
